Solo miner mined a block in the Bitcoin network and received $ 371,576

12:43 pm, August 19, 2025

On Sunday, August 17, it became known that the solo miner mined block 910,440 in the bitcoin network BTC $115,548.00 Mezo Wrapped BTC -2.51% Market capitalization $41.29 million VOL. 24 hours $1.88 billion and received 3,137 BTC (approximately $ 371,576) in rewards and commissions. This was reported by CK Pool administrator Kon Kolivas. According to him, the miner was working on equipment with a hash rate of only 9 TH/s, and the probability of such success is approximately 1 in 800 per day.

The found block contained about 4,900 transactions, of which about 3,300 had a commission below one satoshi per virtual byte. The additional profit from them amounted to only 0.0018 BTC (approximately $ 220), which is equal to 0.06% of the block reward. Kolivas noted that the inclusion of such transactions was an experiment: large pools such as F2Pool had already started processing them, and refusing to do so would put solo miners at a disadvantage.

At the same time, he believes that the creation of a large number of new UTXOs without significant financial benefits is harmful to the network. Therefore, CK Pool will now only track such transactions, but will not include them in blocks. Kolivas emphasized that such transactions can only make economic sense when the reward for a block falls below 0.2 BTC, which is not expected in the coming decades.

The community supported his conclusions. Fedora founder Warren Togami called the massive expansion of UTXO «a negative factor that has been ignored for years.» He emphasized that the profits from such blocks are privatized, while the costs are passed on to the entire network.

This is not the first time a solo miner has earned a significant income. on July 27, another network member managed to mine block 907,283, earning $ 372,773. Earlier, GoMining predicted a new wave of interest in bitcoin mining.

We would like to add that a solo miner managed to mine a block on the bitcoin network using equipment worth only $ 299. It happened on March 10, when he found block #887,212 using a home Bitax rig with a 480 GH/s hashrate. His reward amounted to 3.15 BTC (about $ 250,000). CKPool administrator Kon Kolivas noted that the probability of finding a block with such a capacity is one in a million, and the average time for this is more than 3,500 years of continuous operation.
