Solo miner mines a block in the Bitcoin network and receives $ 347,000

This is the second such case in September 2025 when individual participants were able to compete with large mining farms.
The miner used the Solo CKPool service, which allows individual participants to participate in mining without creating their own full-fledged network node. The mined block contained 593 transactions totaling 473.61 BTC, which is $ 52.6 million. The reward consisted of the standard 3,125 BTC per block and an additional 0.0042 BTC in transaction fees.
The likelihood of such success is extremely low due to fierce competition with large data centers that use hundreds of specialized ASIC devices for mining. Experts compare such cases to winning the lottery, as the result is achieved solely by randomly trying to find the correct hash.
Peter Cheung of Presto Labs notes that such stories demonstrate the decentralized nature of the Bitcoin network. Even with the dominance of large mining pools, individual participants retain the theoretical possibility of receiving the full reward for a block.
Earlier in August 2025, another solo miner mined block 910,440 and earned 3,137 BTC worth about $ 365,000. Such cases occur against the backdrop of the record complexity of the Bitcoin network, which has reached 136.04 trillion hashes. The complexity is automatically adjusted every 2016 blocks to maintain the average block generation time at 10 minutes.
Experts note that despite the technical feasibility of individual mining, the economic feasibility of this approach remains questionable due to the high cost of electricity and equipment compared to the low chances of success.
