Sony announces PlayStation Portal, a portable gadget for remote launch of games via Wi-Fi

This year, Sony will officially release a new portable device for its own gaming consoles — PlayStation Portal, designed for game streaming. The developers announced: Station Portal will stream games from PS5 via Wi-Fi.

Sony PlayStation Portal is equipped with an 8-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1080p and a frequency of 60 frames per second. All the buttons and functions of the DualSense wireless controller, including adaptive triggers and haptic feedback, are available for game control. The device will also be able to play media files, as there is a special section on the main screen, just like in PS5.

«PlayStation Portal will connect remotely to your PS5 via Wi-Fi, so you can quickly jump from your PS5 game to your PlayStation Portal,» said Hideaki Nishino, Senior Vice President of Platform, Sony Interactive Entertainment. — «PlayStation Portal will allow you to play supported games that are installed on your PS5 console and use the Dualsense controller.»

At the same time, PlayStation Portal will not work with Sony’s upcoming cloud-based game streaming for PS5

«Games that need to be streamed to PS5 with a PS Plus Premium subscription are not compatible,» Sony said.
