Accomplices of the world’s most notorious cryptocurrency criminal detained
Alleged accomplices of the cryptocurrency fraudster, OneCoin founder Ruzha Ignatova, have been detained in Germany — three suspects have been brought before a German court on charges of crypto fraud worth billions of dollars.
As Bloomberg journalists found out, the crypto-role model’s partners are suspected of money laundering, fraud, and banking crimes. One of the suspects made transfers to Ignatova’s accounts in the Cayman Islands, totaling $ 19.7 million. With these funds, Ruzha Ignatova purchased 2 apartments in London. The other two defendants are a married couple suspected of handling $ 314.72 million in client funds.
It is not yet known what punishment awaits the criminals if their involvement in crypto fraud is proven. This is one of the first lawsuits in the European Union related to cryptocurrency fraud.
As for the founder of the OneCoin pyramid scheme, her whereabouts are still unknown. At the end of July, Greek law enforcement agencies attempted to detain Ruzha Ignatova, but the police failed to find and catch her. According to law enforcement officials, Ruzha Ignatova has been hiding in Greece for 5 years since she fled Bulgaria. However, neither Interpol, nor Europol, nor the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), which has announced a $ 100,000 reward for any information about the fraudster, have been able to find out the exact whereabouts of the crypto queen.
Ruzha Ignatova founded the OneCoin pyramid scheme, which she and her offshore company OneCoin Ltd promoted under the guise of a cryptocurrency. Ignatova promised investors to make OneCoin the most popular virtual currency in the world, encouraging users to transfer their own savings to OneCoin investment accounts. According to rough estimates, the fraudster received $ 4 billion. Ignatova is currently on the list of the 10 most wanted crypto fraudsters.
