Starbucks has developed its own NFT tokens
The most popular coffee shop chain Starbucks has launched a beta version of its own NFTs as part of the Starbucks Odyssey loyalty program. To develop their Web3 initiative, Starbucks representatives signed a partnership agreement with the Polygon blockchain.
Collectible non-fungible tokens can be received by both employees of establishments and coffee suppliers, as well as Starbucks customers. In this way, the company hopes to attract new customers and motivate its employees. NFTs can be earned by completing missions on the Starbucks Odyssey blockchain platform, where users learn the history of Starbucks' founding and philosophy in a playful way.
The company emphasized that it is not necessary to have an NFT wallet to store non-fungible tokens — it is only important to download the Starbucks app. Customers of the coffee chain can use the received game rewards and NFTs for online and offline purchases at Starbucks. «We do not want to run a business where our customer base is aging. Our goal is to attract as many young people as possible,» explained Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz.
Back in September, Starbucks Vice President of Loyalty, Strategy and Marketing Ryan Butz noted that Starbucks Odyssey uses technologies that meet the company’s aspirations: «We took a carefully considered approach when choosing a blockchain, and Polygon proved to be the perfect platform for our digital community.»
