Streaming service Twitch refuses to remove video of Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant explosion at Russian request

Yesterday, on August 24, the popular streaming platform Twitch was once again fined by a Moscow court — this time for refusing to remove a video about the Kakhovka HPP. This was reported by Espresso with reference to the Russian service of DW.

The fine amounted to 3 million rubles. It is noted that the service refused to remove several videos about the war of the Russian occupiers against Ukraine and, in particular, about the undermining of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant by the Russian military.

The service was accused of violating Part 2 of Art. 13.41 of the Administrative Code (failure to remove information or a website by the site owner if the obligation to remove such information is provided for by the legislation of the occupiers).

As a reminder, in October 2022, the Tagansky District Court of Moscow already fined Twitch 4 million rubles for publishing an interview with Oleksiy Arestovych, an advisor to the Office of the President of Ukraine.

Earlier, we talked about the scandalous epic related to the broadcast of the Nothing, Forever series created by artificial intelligence on Twitch. The show lasted 24 hours a day and consisted of strange dialogues of pixelated characters in one apartment.

Interestingly, at the beginning of the «sitcom», on December 14, 2022, only 16 people watched the show. But then the series went viral: thousands of viewers fell under the «supernatural charm of the low-resolution 3D rendering of the four main characters.» The sitcom characters moved around awkwardly, walked through furniture, and made some bad jokes. The channel where Nothing, Forever was broadcast, watchmeforever, eventually gained about 190 thousand subscribers. And the organizers even managed to open an online store of branded merchandise.

However, the show had to be closed when the AI started behaving inappropriately on February 5.
