Court rules that self-proclaimed bitcoin developer is lying
The self-proclaimed creator of bitcoin, Craig Wright, has lost his recent laws uit — the Australian once again wanted to prove that he is indeed the developer of bitcoin.
Judge James Mellor, who presided over the case, stated that the code that underpins the flagship cryptocurrency cannot be considered a literary work. That’s because Wright was unable to demonstrate how he created the code in the first place.
The judge emphasized that in order to prove Wright’s copyright in the development of the VTS, the scientist had to test his involvement in the creation of the first block in the Bitcoin network (genesis). However, he never did. Wright’s inability to pass the copyright test helped to reach a verdict in the case.
«I don’t see any prospect that the current law, as currently interpreted, could protect copyright in an object that is not printed or recorded anywhere,» Mellor said.
According to him, «claims regarding the copyright of the 2008 White Paper and whether Wright is indeed its author will be considered separately.»
Craig Wright is a scientist and IT specialist from Australia who became famous for taking credit for the creation of the HTS. At the end of December 2022, Wright announced that he was no longer going to convince the public that he was Сатоші Накамото" href="https://noworries.media/biography/satoshi-nakamoto/" data-bio-id="4232">Satoshi Nakamoto. The pseudo-father of bitcoin wrote a huge Twitter thread where he complained to his followers that they never believed him. «Everyone made fun of me. I’m angry and hurt. It’s over. I don’t care what you think anymore. I care about my family. I want my work to be used, nothing else matters,» Wright tweeted.
