Telegram developer provokes a sharp rise in its own cryptocurrency

Starting next month, Telegram will launch financial payments for channel owners. This will be done through the TON blockchain. As a result, the coin’s price has skyrocketed after the high-profile announcement.

The announcement of the changes in Telegram’s policy was made on the channel of the social network’s founder Pavel Durov yesterday, February 28. He noted that Telegram channels generate 1 trillion views every month, and currently only 10% of these views are monetized through Telegram Ads, a privacy-friendly promotion tool.

That is why the Telegram advertising platform has decided to take a significant step — starting in March, it will be open to all advertisers in almost 100 new countries. Their list is not yet available.

Channel owners in these countries will start receiving 50% of all revenue that Telegram receives from advertising on their channels. Payments for advertising and withdrawals will be made exclusively through the TON blockchain.

«Similar to our approach with Telegram usernames on Fragment, we will sell ads and share revenue with channel owners in Toncoin,» Durov explained.

As a result, content creators will be able to either cash out their Toncoins or re-invest them in promoting and updating their channels.

Almost immediately after this announcement, the TON rate began to grow rapidly — by 29.95% over the past day. Forecasts for further growth are quite positive, but this trend is being recorded even before the official launch of the new tool on Telegram. Channel owners will receive monthly remuneration for advertising from TG Ads in TON, which will further support the coin’s rate.

As of February 29, TON was trading at $ 2.67 with a market capitalization of $ 9.25 billion. Traders made daily trading deals worth $ 241.31 million.
