Telegram adds an option to buy bitcoin
The official Telegram bot Wallet has added support for buying and selling bitcoin (BTC) using a bank card via the web interface. The bot’s developers announced this on their page.
Users can buy and sell cryptocurrency through the Market section of the web interface. The list of payment methods includes a bank card or peer-to-peer transactions in a p2p marketplace. Users can convert BTC, tether (USDT), and TON among themselves.
In mid-March 2023, the @wallet bot added support for USDT. However, the wallet is available only for verified messenger accounts linked to a phone number.
In 2022, messenger users were able to buy and sell short nicknames through the Fragment platform. Nickname trading is available not only for personal accounts but also for publics and groups. The ownership of the names is stored in the TON network registry.
