Tether has invested € 70 million in the production of humanoid robots
Tether, the issuer of the USDT stablecoin, has announced an investment in Generative Bionics, an Italian developer of humanoid robots with artificial intelligence. The total amount of funds raised in the latest funding round amounted to € 70 million. With this investment, Generative Bionics plans to start mass production of its robots in 2026.
Generative Bionics specializes in the development of robotic systems for industrial sectors, including manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, and retail. The company’s team brings together more than 70 engineers and scientists from the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT) who work in the field of Physical AI, a technology that combines artificial intelligence with physical robotics. The combined experience of the company’s specialists exceeds 600 years.
The company also holds exclusive licenses to a number of key IIT developments that have formed the basis of more than 60 humanoid robot prototypes over the past two decades. These technologies have been tested in research centers around the world.
Tether’s investments are aimed at developing Physical AI and edge AI systems, accelerating the launch of industrial trials of the Generative Bionics platform, building the first production facility, and integrating the company into the international robotics ecosystem. The first pilot projects are scheduled for early 2026. Italian robots will be used in manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, retail, and other industries.
According to analysts cited by Tether, the global market for humanoid robotics will exceed € 200 billion by 2035, and could grow to more than € 5 trillion by mid-century. The company also previously introduced a system for localized re-training of large language models (LLMs), which underscores its interest in developing high technologies outside the financial sector.
