TON became the fastest blockchain in the world, overtaking Visa and MasterCard
The Telegram Open Network (TON) has proven to be the world’s fastest blockchain by demonstrating the ability to process a record number of transactions per second. TON reached a speed of 104,715 transactions per second (TPS) during public performance testing.
on October 31, the blockchain began public testing, during which it processed about 42 million transactions at a speed of more than 104 thousand TPS. Thanks to this, TON has surpassed the most popular blockchains such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and many others.
Impressively, TON’s exceptional performance has not only propelled the network to the top of the list of the industry’s leading blockchains, it has also shown its leadership in the payments industry as a whole. The network has surpassed such giants with a huge user base as Visa, MasterCard, and PayPal in terms of the speed of processing centralized payments.
Not so long ago, TON integrated with the related messaging platform Telegram, where TON wallets appeared. This served as a major factor in increasing market efficiency by making the token easily accessible to Telegram’s huge user base of 800 million people.
CoinCodex identifies TON as one of the most popular altcoins over the past month. Since its launch, TON has risen to the 9th position among all cryptocurrencies in terms of market capitalization.
At the moment, TON is trading at $ 2.24. Over the past 24 hours, the token has added 3.26% and 9.04% over the past month. However, the record level of $ 4.91, which was recorded in December 2021, is still far from being reached. Nevertheless, another demonstration of opportunities should further inspire confidence in further growth.
Pavel Durov commented on the TON record: «We were right to choose TON as the blockchain platform for Telegram. From a technological point of view, competitors are years behind in their ability to scale. Bitcoin is likely to remain, but other blockchain platforms look outdated.»
