Twitter sells equipment from its offices, including tables and chairs
Twitter will auction off hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of company property, Vice Motherboard reports. Among other things, office chairs, digital whiteboards, an espresso machine, and a six-foot wooden version of the company’s bluebird logo will be auctioned off. The sale of items from Twitter’s headquarters will begin on January 18, with the auction house Heritage Global Partners conducting the auction.
In total, more than 800 items are up for sale. The company has even created a catalog, with most of the items being office and kitchen equipment. In particular, the La Marzocco Strada espresso machine, which retails for more than $ 20,000, will go under the hammer. Musk’s company also wants to get rid of a high-quality manual meat grinder worth more than $ 10,000, an industrial vegetable dryer, and a stew pan. The auction price for expensive devices starts at just $ 25.
The auction will last for five days. It is expected that the lots will be purchased for amounts significantly higher than the starting price, thus Twitter plans to recover some of its financial losses. In order to increase revenues, the platform is also considering selling usernames. It is known that the company has been discussing the sale of usernames since December 2022. It seems that Elon Musk is doing everything possible to avoid insolvency of the social network in 2023.
As a reminder, Twitter is working on launching a digital rewards system. The option will be called Coins. The new feature will allow users to be financially incentivized to post tweets. The reward will be an internal Twitter token that can be purchased for fiat.
