Twitter wins first round of court hearing in case against Elon Musk
Representatives of the social network Twitter have won the first round of the court hearing in the case against billionaire Elon Musk, who refused to buy the social network.
Judge Kathleen McCormick in the case of Twitter and Elon Musk decided to schedule a court hearing for October 2022, which can be called a victory for the social network’s representatives in the first round of the trial, as they had previously requested a hearing to be scheduled for early fall. Obviously, Tesla’s CEO is unhappy with this decision — Elon Musk tried to postpone the start of the trial to February 2023. According to the entrepreneur’s lawyers, Twitter representatives want to achieve a «light speed» sale to hide the truth about the number of fake accounts.
A few days earlier, people close to Judge Kathleen McCormick said that she might not rule in favor of the Dogecoin king. This is because McCormick is «an extremely principled judge and does not tolerate when someone wants to withdraw from a legal agreement.» Given these statements about the judge and the decision to postpone the hearing until October, there is every reason to expect that after a period of confrontation between Twitter and Elon Musk, the case will end with a «loss» of $ 44 million for Musk and the acquisition of Twitter.
