Cryptocurrency hackers attacked the army’s social networks in the UK
Hackers have gained access to the UK army’s Twitter and YouTube accounts to spread a malware to steal cryptocurrencies. The incident was reported on the official Twitter account of the British Ministry of Defense.
«We are aware of an attack on the army’s Twitter and YouTube accounts, and an investigation is underway. We take information security very seriously and are addressing this issue. We will not comment until the investigation is complete,» the Defense Ministry said.
We are aware of a breach of the Army’s Twitter and YouTube accounts and an investigation is underway.
The Army takes information security extremely seriously and is resolving the issue. Until their investigation is complete it would be inappropriate to comment further.

The official British Army YouTube channel was renamed Ark Invest by hackers, removing all previous videos and publishing several diplomatic speeches by Elon Musk and Jack Dorsey. Under the video, users were urged to invest in fraudulent crypto projects (there is currently no comment from Ark Invest on this crypto scam).
The army's Twitter account was less affected - it was not renamed, but a link to a phishing site that "gives away" free NFTs (in fact, steals funds from a crypto wallet) was posted in the profile description.
At the time of writing, the British Army has restored access to its accounts: "We apologize for the temporary interruption of our feed. We will conduct a full investigation and learn from this incident," the British Army tweeted.
Apologies for the temporary interruption to our feed. We will conduct a full investigation and learn from this incident. Thanks for following us and normal service will now resume.

Social media attacks have become one of the most used tools by fraudsters, who even impersonate other hacker groups. Recently, fraudsters posing as Anonymous hackers on YouTube posted a video message to Luna token founder Do Kwon. The fake Anonymous hackers promised to disclose detailed information about all of Do Kwon’s crimes and make sure he goes to jail as soon as possible.
