Virtual reality for medical training is being developed in the UK

12:43 pm, August 15, 2022

Wales has started developing a digital platform for doctors, hoping to unite all healthcare professionals and provide them with the opportunity for virtual learning at home.

As it became known, medical institutions in Wales and Goggleminds startup are working on the new Mediverse project. Representatives of the startup said that unlike other VR medical training programs, medical professionals and students will have access to Mediverse from anywhere in the world, regardless of the city, country, or continent they live in.

The platform will recreate various situations that often happen to patients and doctors in real life. According to Mediverse’s developers, students, nurses, therapists, surgeons, and other doctors will be able to test their skills or consolidate their knowledge without endangering themselves or their patients.

It should be reminded that virtual reality is already being used in the UK: at the end of May, the British dental group Dental Design Studio bought land in the Sandbox metaverse. Thus, in addition to appointments in 15 real offices across the UK, the dental chain also accepts clients in the metaverse. Also, in early July, the United Arab Emirates announced the launch of the first virtual hospital, which promises to reduce the need for patients to visit real medical facilities.
