Catalonia will develop its own virtual reality for the needs of the whole region
The government of Catalonia (an administrative region of Spain) has announced plans to launch its own Cataverse metaverse and turn the region into a Web3 technology center. Daniel Marco, Director General of Innovation and Digital Economy of the region, spoke about the ambitious plans of Catalonia: «Cataverse will be linked to the Catalan language and culture. We want local cultural organizations to popularize their activities in the meta-universe.»
The Catalonia region is divided into 4 provinces, including Barcelona. Government officials plan to make Barcelona the main hub of digital innovations, attracting talented specialists from various fields and progressive private entrepreneurs. «We are working on implementing a policy to generate talent at universities. We also frequently conduct professional development programs, as we need experienced specialists in various fields,» added Marko.
According to analysts, by implementing Web3 technologies in Catalonia, the government keeps up with the times and reduces its own costs in the future. After all, the consulting company McKinsey & Company predicted that by the end of the decade, virtual reality will cost $ 5 trillion and will be many times more popular than it is now. And the metaverse, like the Internet, will become the next platform through which we will be able to work, live, and communicate.
