3:12 pm, July 19, 2022

Law enforcement agencies have reported the detention of four fraudsters who urged users to invest in a fake mining farm and then disappeared after receiving the money.

According to the official website of the National Police of Ukraine, the fraudsters promised the victims a large profit and then stopped contacting them after receiving the money. During the searches, law enforcement officers seized system units, video cards, motherboards, and hard drives. A criminal case has been initiated under Part 3 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — fraud in especially large amounts or through illegal operations with the use of electronic computers. The offenders face up to 8 years in prison.

Earlier, law enforcement agencies detained cryptocurrency fraudsters from Ukraine who helped users from Russia and residents of the so-called L/DNR convert fiat currency into cryptocurrency without paying taxes. During the searches, the SBU seized bank silver bars weighing over 830 kg and fiat currency (EUR 850,000, USD 470,000 and UAH 460,000), which were seized.
