Microsoft proves that virtual reality reduces labor efficiency
Microsoft Research, together with a group of researchers from Koburg and Cambridge, conducted an experiment on labor efficiency in virtual reality, which showed that working in metaverse universes reduces employee productivity.
According to the study, virtual reality does not create comfortable conditions that would positively affect the performance of employees. The Microsoft Research experiment involved 16 people who worked in virtual reality for 40 hours a week.
35% of the participants noticed that their workload had increased;
- 11% began to experience anxiety;
- 48% - began to suffer from eye strain;
- 6% did not comment on their condition.
Interestingly, specialists' frustration with their own work increased by 42%, and their productivity dropped by 16%.
Obviously, representatives of the international consulting company McKinsey & Company would disagree with the results of the study, who predicted the growing popularity of metaverse and an increase in global spending on their development to $ 5 trillion by 2030.
