Cryptocurrency payments can be integrated into the Diia mobile app
Cryptocurrency exchange Binance has announced the expansion of cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, ForkLog media outlet reports, citing the government agency.
The Ministry of Digital Transformation and the largest cryptocurrency exchange are working on the possibility of «further spreading the acceptance of cryptocurrencies through payment with digital assets (using Binance Pay) for public services, in particular in Diia.»
Kirill Khomyakov, General Manager of Binance in Ukraine, said: «As part of the country’s digitalization, we are working together to develop a concept for integrating blockchain into the public sector.»
Back in September, Binance announced integration with the Diia app — the crypto exchange added the ability to verify on the platform through the Ukrainian government app on a smartphone. Now, every new user who has an ID card or foreign passport in Diia can pass KYC verification in a matter of minutes.
«Today we are all witnessing the growth of cryptocurrency acceptance and regulation around the world, and for Ukraine, cryptocurrencies have become one of the main ways to receive humanitarian aid and keep Ukrainians' savings safe,» Kyrylo Khomyakov said at the time.
As a reminder, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine wants to launch a national cryptocurrency (CBDC) in 2030. The head of the ministry, Mykhailo Fedorov, plans to significantly reduce the circulation of conventional paper money by that time. Other planned innovations include the complete transfer of all public services to Diia, the digitalization of the elderly, and the use of artificial intelligence in court proceedings.
