Bored Apes' NFT collection fixes a critical vulnerability that was discovered by users a year ago
Developers from Yuga Labs have fixed the ability to mine an infinite number of non-fungible tokens from the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) collection. The problem was fixed more than a year after it became known.
The co-founder of Yuga Labs announced this on Twitter and explained that the developers had been planning to fix the problem for a long time, but were in no hurry to be cautious.
The contract owner has now been burned. While we’d been meaning to do this for a long time, we hadn't out of an abundance of caution. Felt comfortable doing it now. All done.
In lay terms: The issue flagged in this article is now impossible.— EmperorTomatoKetchup (Kerem Atalay) (@TomatoBAYC) June 7, 2022
@EmperorTomatoKetchup and Gargamel, another co-founder of Yuga Labs, shared a link to a transaction proving that the bug had been fixed.
The elimination of the critical vulnerability is also important for BAYC holders, who have received a guarantee that the monkeys' emission will not increase depending on the developers' wishes.
As a reminder, hackers recently hacked the Bored Ape Discord server and stole 200 ETH ($ 360,000) worth of NFTs from users.
