In Switzerland, cryptocurrency transactions will be available at post offices
The Swiss Post Office has announced plans to expand its services: by the end of 2024, it promises to launch the possibility of conducting cryptocurrency transactions through the Post’s banking division PostFinance.
According to local journalists, the service of buying and selling cryptocurrencies through post offices will be the first in Switzerland. «Our customers want direct access to the cryptocurrency market through a trusted institution. Given the growing popularity of digital currencies over the past 18 months, this is the perfect time to enter the market,» said Sandra Lienhart, Head of Retail Banking at the Post Office.
Currently, PostFinance offers its customers access to cryptocurrency transactions through its Yuh app, which supports 13 cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin. Also recently, one of the oldest financial companies in Switzerland, Julius Baer Group, started offering cryptocurrency transactions to its clients. And the Swiss financial services provider Dukascopy Bank SA has added the ability to deposit and with draw USDT stablecoin, as well as ETH, for holders of multi-currency accounts.
Interestingly, the Swiss post office is not the only one to integrate into the virtual environment. At the end of June, the French post office Groupe La Poste Binance/" data-wpel-link="internal">launched its first collection of non-fungible tokens on the Binance crypto exchange. «Visages de France par les facteurs» are 10 photos taken by French postmen. The Austrian Post now offers customers the purchase of digital stamps. After purchasing a physical stamp from the Crypto Stamp Art (CSA) collection, the buyer receives its digital counterpart stored on the Ethereum blockchain.
