In the USA, MetaMask cryptocurrency wallet can now be replenished via PayPal
ConsenSys, the developer of the MetaMask cryptocurrency wallet, has announced a partnership with the electronic payment system PayPal. From now on, MetaMask customers will be able to replenish their Ethereum balance using PayPal.
Currently, only a test group of PayPal customers from the United States will have access to the new functionality, and later all American residents will have access to it. The timing and plans to launch the service in other countries have not yet been announced.
«Buying cryptocurrencies is a rather complicated process, and there is no common solution for users from different countries. We cooperate with several companies to facilitate the investment process, make it easier and safer. We are constantly expanding the project’s functionality to support our users and the entire Web3 ecosystem,» the company representatives emphasized.
It is worth noting that MetaMask is only compatible with blockchains supported by the EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) network, so PayPal users will not be able to fund their MetaMask wallets with tokens that do not belong to the Ethereum ecosystem.
Back in early June, Paypal allowed its customers to make cryptocurrency transfers between PayPal accounts and to external wallets. «Adding the ability to transfer and receive cryptocurrencies is another step toward creating a more inclusive and efficient financial system,» said Jose Fernandes da Ponte, PayPal’s senior vice president and general manager of blockchain.
As for the updates to MetaMask, in early November, the platform’s developers launched a new feature for fast cryptocurrency transfer between blockchains. The bridge aggregator for cross-chain transactions is called Bridges and supports crypto transactions of up to 10,000 tokens in ETH, wrapped ETH, and stablecoins, and gas can be paid for in four ecosystems (Ethereum, Avalanche, BSC, and Polygon).
