In the US, cryptocurrency owners are banned from participating in the adoption of crypto laws
The U.S. Office of Government Ethics (OGE) has banned employees who own cryptocurrency from participating in the adoption of federal laws and regulations governing the circulation of cryptocurrencies.
«No employee who owns any amount of cryptocurrency or stablecoins should participate in cases involving virtual assets if the decisions made may have an impact on the value of cryptocurrency or stablecoins,» OGE representatives said. The new decision applies to all federal government employees, including the White House, the Federal Reserve, and the Treasury Department.
Despite this ban, the United States is considered to be a fairly loyal country to cryptocurrencies. Recently, the US government «refused» to control cryptocurrency mining by limiting the powers of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). However, earlier the White House promised to propose a law that would regulate bitcoin mining and its impact on energy and climate. It is expected that the proposal of such a bill will be published in August.
