Twitter may have its own cryptocurrency
Social media users are spreading rumors that Twitter is planning to introduce its own digital asset called Twitter Coin, which will be used to make payments on the platform. Some of them refer to the tweets of Nim Ovji, who runs a Twitter leak account. on December 4, he posted a screenshot of Twitter’s alleged interface, which shows the «Coins» option for tipping, as well as a vector image of a coin with the Twitter logo.

Other users of the platform pointed to tweets by tech researcher Jane Manchun Wong, who claimed to have mined code from the Twitter web app to find the same information as Owji. However, the post and Wong’s account were removed from the platform for unknown reasons.
The hashtag #TwitterCoin also appeared in a lot of posts. Many users are excitedly discussing the news that the social network may be working on new payment services and cryptocurrency integration. Although, under the leadership of Elon Musk, this is hardly surprising.
New buzz is circulating about a «Twitter Coin» and it has been trending. No doubt, Twitter is hard at work in integrating a payment system of both fiat & crypto, and no doubt, for crypto, #TwitterPiPayment is the most viable option. Nothing better than Pi out there. Dogecoin followers on Twitter and Reddit also tried to figure out the truth of the rumors. Some users are still hoping that Twitter Coin is just a new name for integrating Dogecoin into the platform (given Musk’s longstanding commitment to meme coin).

On December 4, Musk took part in Twitter Spaces, where he told more than 2 million listeners that he was still interested in integrating cryptocurrencies into Twitter. «There is no problem for Twitter to accept payments in both fiat and cryptocurrency,» the billionaire said. Currently, Twitter supports bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) payments, which were integrated in September 2021. The platform is also expected to launch a money transfer function with connected debit cards and bank accounts. Twitter has previously applied for a license that will allow it to process payments.
After the $ 44 billion takeover of the social network in October, Musk oversaw a number of changes at Twitter, including corporate policy, censorship, disclosure, and bot activity on the platform.
