Ukrainians killed a foreigner for 7 million hryvnias in cryptocurrency
Kyiv police have solved a murder related to the kidnapping and robbery of a foreigner. Four men aged 24 to 29 carefully prepared a kidnapping plan to steal almost 7 million hryvnias in cryptocurrency. The criminals beat the man, forced him into a car and took him to an abandoned building in Kyiv region, where they forced him to transfer bitcoins BTC $71,035.42 Bitcoin 5.22% Market capitalization $1.4 trillion VOL. 24 hours $2.72 billion to their crypto wallet, then strangled him and buried his body in the woods.
Law enforcement officers found that the attackers had been preparing for the crime in advance. They learned that the man owned bitcoins and decided to steal them. The kidnappers tracked down his place of residence and, when he was returning home, attacked him, beat him and forced him into a car.
During the special operation, the attackers were detained with the support of the KORD special forces. The police seized money, a car and other material evidence from the detainees. Currently, criminal proceedings have been initiated against the criminals under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, including premeditated murder for profit, robbery, illegal imprisonment and concealment of a crime.
The defendants face life imprisonment.
Earlier, we reported that the National Police of Ukraine detained a criminal group that deceived people by promising profitable investments in cryptocurrencies. The fraudsters operated through fake call centers, targeting citizens of Ukraine, Moldova, Kazakhstan, and the European Union.
The fraudsters skillfully pretended to be stock exchange experts, convincing people to invest their savings in cryptocurrency. They used psychological tactics to convince victims of high returns on investment. As a result, the victims transferred funds to the criminals' electronic wallets and bank cards.
