Ukrainian Diia to join the development of a European digital wallet

The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine has announced that Diia will participate in the development of the European Digital Wallet. The Ukrainian application was demonstrated to the international community at the POTENTIAL consortium meeting in Paris.

«A digital wallet is a program for storing and using identification data. ThePOTENTIAL (Pilots for European Digital Identity Wallet) consortium is working on the development of a European service that will allow you to open a bank account online, have constant access to your driver’s license on your phone, use an electronic signature, and receive electronic medical prescriptions,» the Ministry of Digital Transformation said.

The Ukrainian agency presented Diia as a candidate for the project. The Ministry of Digital Transformation emphasized that the app will allow you to

• open bank accounts;
• create and use an electronic signature;
• use digital documents.

The forum participants and French Minister of Digital Technologies Jean-Noël Barrot noted that Ukraine, despite the war, is creating high-quality services.

The involvement of the Ministry of Digital Transformation in the EU Digital Identity Wallet pilot project is supported by the European Union under the DT4UA project implemented by the Estonian eGovernance Academy.

Earlier, the Ministry of Digital Transformation said that Ukraine’s Delta military system has passed NATO tests and is ready to integrate Western equipment, including F-16 fighters. «…Having a national military system capable of operating according to modern standards is as important as having combat pilots who can quickly master new generation fighters. These are real achievements that Ukraine should be frankly proud of and can boldly demonstrate to its NATO partners,» said Mykhailo Fedorov, head of the Ministry.
