Ukrainian cyber police to search for cryptocurrency wallets linked to terrorist and sanctioned activities

11:36 am, March 21, 2023

The Ukrainian cyber police has become a partner in a project to detect cryptocurrency wallets linked to terrorist and sanctioned activities. As part of the Scamfari initiative, law enforcement officers will find and block the virtual assets of criminals. In addition, Scamfari offers financial rewards to users who report the address of a crypto wallet and provide evidence of its owners' involvement in illegal activities.

Scamfari [OSINT (Open-source intelligence)] is a platform that continuously receives data on cryptocurrency projects and wallets involved in raising funds to support criminal groups.

Users receive rewards for each piece of information. There are the following categories of reports:

Authorized projects
A digital project that is subject to sanctions in a particular region and/or initiates, supports, or promotes criminal activity. What to include: a link to the project and evidence of its involvement in prohibited activities.

Report on terrorist financing by Russia
A crypto wallet that collects donations to support aggression against Ukraine. What you need to specify: wallet address (combination of letters and numbers) and relevant evidence (screenshots, names of occupants/collaborators, etc.).

Terrorist financing report
A wallet that raises funds for the benefit of terrorist organizations. What you need to specify: wallet address (combination of letters and numbers), name of the terrorist organization, name of the persons involved, etc.

To report, you need to collect the necessary data and write to a special Telegram bot. The more addresses a user reports, the more rewards they can receive.

You can learn more about the project on the website.

In early March, the Ukrainian cyber police, together with the Prosecutor General’s Office, law enforcement agencies from Germany, the Netherlands, Europol, and the FBI, exposed a hacker who caused € 40 million in losses to European companies. The victims include critical infrastructure and industrial facilities located within the eurozone. The attacker was a 39-year-old Ukrainian who now lives in Germany.
