Ukrainian developers receive $ 500,000 investment to develop a virtual reality streaming platform
The founders of Aspichi, a Ukrainian startup developing a virtual reality platform for interactive streaming of 360-degree spatial video and audio in a VR helmet, have raised $ 500,000 in investment. The funding came from Ukrainian venture capital fund SMRK.raised $ 15 million in investments to develop their project. The funding round was led by European investment company Greenfield. Slow Ventures, Warner Music, The Artemis Fund, and Red Dao also joined the round.
«We have a common history with SMRK and, most importantly, common values. In the negotiations, the level of ambition of the project and the scope of application were important. We also continue to communicate with global VCs who are interested, but are very high on the risks for Ukraine,» Aspichi co-founder Viktor Samoilenko told AIN.UA.
Currently, the startup team plans to spend funds on improving the technological level of the platform, attracting talented developers, and expanding the circle of «early adopters of the client base.»
According to the authors of the idea, the VR platform for interactive streaming in a VR helmet is aimed at teaching complex skills, such as prosthetics. The startup’s main clients are the corporate segment, medical institutions, construction, and manufacturing.
