Ukrainian students will receive 5 thousand Apple iPads for free

The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine will provide students from 12 schools with five thousand Apple iPads. These are the schools that have suffered the most from the military aggression of the Russian occupiers. The gadgets are supposed to help children study remotely. The first tablets have already been delivered to schoolchildren in Kyiv region.

«The digitalization of the education sector continues. We are working to ensure that children continue their education despite the full-scale war, so together with our partners we are launching a project to support Ukrainian schoolchildren. Hundreds of schools have been damaged or destroyed by Russian shelling. Children cannot study in the usual format. Thetablets will help students acquire new knowledge and improve their digital literacy,» the Ministry of Digital Transformation said.

There are few details about the project. The ministry did not specify how the equipment was obtained, whether it was charitable aid or paid for from the state budget. The Ministry of Digital Transformation reported that the initiative was implemented by partners — the official distributor of IT products ASBIS, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Education, Science and Innovation, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and the NGO 7Fields.

Recently, a team of Ukrainian developers from the Unicorn School virtual school created the world’s first mobile application for smartphones and tablets that allows children to learn during blackouts. Teachers remotely upload educational material in all subjects to the app on a daily basis, and children can learn their lessons in the app itself. The only requirement is a charged working gadget.
