Ukrainian NFT museum dedicated to Russian invasion raises $ 1.5 million for war victims

9:27 am, August 24, 2022

Back in March 2022, Ukraine created the first NFT war museum to record the crimes of the Russian occupiers. MetaHistory began operating a month after the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. The museum raises money by selling collections of NFT art called Warline and Avatars for Ukraine, collections of digital artworks that chronologically cover each important event in the Russian-Ukrainian war. All proceeds go to the Aid For Ukraine cryptocurrency fund.

The creators of the museum emphasize that the money from NFT art does not buy weapons, but primarily covers the humanitarian and medical needs of both the Ukrainian military and civilians.

By the way, the MetaHistory War Museum, in partnership with the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy, has already sold a special collection of NFT art by the best Ukrainian digital artists. The proceeds were used to restore and rebuild architectural monuments destroyed by Russia.

«During the six months of war in Ukraine, Russians have destroyed hundreds of our museums, theaters and cultural centers. Ukrainian culture and national heritage have been damaged by almost 6 billion euros, and judging by the actions and intentions of the Russian Federation, this figure will only increase. That is why it is important today to support modern initiatives and creative projects to restore the unique cultural heritage of Ukraine, involving as many people as possible,» said Oleksandr Tkachenko, Minister of Culture and Information Policy.
