Ukrainian tech startup launches cryptocurrency payment cards
Representatives of the Ukrainian startup Weld Money have announced the launch of their first cryptocurrency card in Ukraine.
According to the Weld Money team, users will be able to connect the card to a phone or smartwatch with Apple or Google Pay and pay for purchases in cryptocurrency. One of the advantages of registration is KYC verification through the Diia app. A special benefit for Ukrainians is the opportunity to donate their crypto savings to the Armed Forces.
Currently, the service works only with the USDT stablecoin, but Weld Money representatives promised to add bitcoin, ethereum, and other popular cryptocurrencies soon. The startup has its own WELD token, which will obviously be added to the service as well.
As for Weld Money, it is backed by large investment companies, including 7 O’Clock Capital, Concorde Capital, and Magnus Capital. The project has successfully listed on centralized (BitMart, Bitrue) and decentralized (Uniswap, PancakeSwap) platforms.
It is worth noting that Weld Money is not the only company with Ukrainian roots that has launched a cryptocurrency payment card. At the end of August, it became known that the Ukrainian cryptocurrency exchange WhiteBIT had developed a WhiteEX card that can be used to buy cryptocurrency and pay for goods.
