MetaMask and other crypto wallets integrated into Opera Crypto browser
Norway’s Opera has added support for MetaMask and other leading cryptocurrency wallets to its Opera Crypto browser ahead of The Merge merger with Ethereum. Users will be able to choose the wallet they want right in the address bar using the Wallet Selector feature. The solution automates the process of switching between applications when exchanging tokens or transactions.

«We created Wallet Selector based on feedback from our users. They no longer need to constantly go into the settings or switch between wallet extensions,» explained Opera CEO Tomas Stavarz.
The feature is part of the browser update, which the developers consider one of the most significant in the history of the product. The changes also strengthened user protection against hacking and phishing attacks.
Opera Crypto Browser is a standalone product that works in conjunction with the company’s classic browser and provides support for decentralized applications (dApps) and crypto wallets. The crypto browser also has a built-in Crypto Corner service that shows the latest news from the cryptocurrency world and offers users educational content.
According to Opera’s head of crypto, Susie Butt, Opera Crypto Browser is the only browser that is fully ready for The Merge. The company intends to continue integrating other blockchains, crypto wallets, and tokens into the browser. The developers have also promised to improve the browser’s security by adding a malicious address moderation tool to ensure that users are confident in working with verified smart contracts.
