In South Korea, students started to prefer learning in virtual reality glasses

12:46 pm, June 6, 2022

The South Korean media began to report that this year a new trend prevails among university students — they choose to study in a metaverse instead of libraries or cafes.

Preparing for exams, young people unite with each other in metaverse and complete daily tasks. Virtual learning helps them track their progress and support their classmates. Students said that they feel more comfortable in the metaverse than in educational institutions, where they have to wear masks and follow established rules.

Tagroom is one of the most visited metaversions for learning, but it is not a separate virtual reality that requires expensive gadgets (glasses, joysticks, etc.); access can be gained through a regular mobile application. Tagroom is specially designed for users who want to study in the virtual world. In the application, students are in a virtual library, «sitting» together at a table or creating separate rooms. Tagroom is available for free download on iOS and Android.

At the same time, it is reported that the South Korean company Kakao has abandoned its plan to transfer work processes to metaverse. Kakao employees were supposed to work in virtual reality 4 times a week, but after several days of testing, they stated that the new system was too intrusive and unusual.
