In Ukraine, cryptocurrency will be used to pay utility bills

Members of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine have adopted the draft law No. 4366 «On Amendments to the Tax Code of Ukraine on Payment Services». 231 deputies voted in favor of the draft law.

«There are many positive innovations in the development of non-cash payments in Ukraine, but the most interesting and innovative is that we are legalizing electronic money, equating electronic wallets to bank wallets, and paying taxes with electronic money. It will also be possible to use e-money to pay for utilities, if your service provider is willing to do so,» said Zheleznyak.

At the same time, Zheleznyak reminded that during the war, the circulation of electronic money in Ukraine is limited, so these innovations will be available after the victory.

The adopted draft law supplements the Law of Ukraine No. 1591-IX «On Payment Services», which came into force on August 1, 2022, and regulates the use of electronic money, as well as the work of non-bank payment service providers.
