Famous cryptocurrency fraudster Ruja Ignatova proves she is alive

6:20 pm, January 23, 2023

As it has become known, a London penthouse owned byone of the 10 most wanted fugitive criminals, Ruda Ignatova, is up for sale at an estimated price of about 11 million pounds. It is important to note that the fraudster’s lawyers have filed an official statement in which Ruzha Ignatova is the beneficial owner of the property in London, which may help in her search.

Since 2017, the crypto queen has been reported missing and is on the federal wanted list. Ruja Ignatova founded the OneCoin pyramid scheme, which she and her offshore company OneCoin Ltd promoted under the guise of cryptocurrency. Ignatova promised investors to make OneCoin the most popular virtual currency in the world, encouraging users to transfer their own savings to OneCoin investment accounts.

The fact that the fraudster has filed an official application for ownership of an apartment in London proves that she is alive. According to journalist Jamie Bartlett, the documents sent by Ignatova’s lawyers «provide important clues to her recent whereabouts.» Bartlett, who conducted his own investigation back in 2021 in an attempt to track down Ignatova and other members of OneCoin’s management, suggested that after the sale of Ruggie’s apartment, the British authorities could begin to return money to the crypto queen’s victims. According to BBC estimates, British investors have invested about 100 million pounds in OneCoin without receiving anything in return.

It is believed that Ignatova lived in the London penthouse until 2016, since then the apartment has remained empty. Sometimes the fraudster’s brother Konstantin and OneCoin co-founder Karl Greenwood came there. Both Ignatova’s relative and partner pleaded guilty to fraud and money laundering.

As for Greenwood, in late December, he confessed to stealing about $ 4 billion in investor funds. He is currently facing charges of organizing a pyramid scheme and defrauding investors. When he learned that the Southern District of New York (SDNY) prosecutor’s office was cracking down on financial crimes, Carl Greenwood decided to confess to everything while under arrest since 2018.
