Visa plans to launch a cryptocurrency card
Visa, one of the world’s largest payment systems, has announced the launch of bank cards in Latin America that will support cryptocurrency payments.
On its official website, Visa has published detailed information about the launch, which will take place in partnership with Latin American startups: Satoshi Tango, Lemon Cash, Zro Bank, and Afterbank. Cardholders of these startups will be able to pay with digital currencies, buy crypto assets on platforms that support the Visa payment system, and receive a refund for purchases in bitcoin.
«The cryptocurrency ecosystem continues to evolve and expand in Latin America due to increased investment, widespread consumer acceptance and a large number of use cases. And we intend to continue to evolve our strategy to support the crypto industry, our partners and customers,» said Romina Seltzer, Senior Vice President of Innovation at Visa.
Visa’s main goal in this project is to provide as many people as possible with the opportunity to use cryptocurrencies through its payment network. Visa is also not far behind its main competitor, the Mastercard payment system, which has expanded its payment network to the market of non-fungible tokens and Web3. From now on, Mastercard cardholders will be able to purchase NFTs without having to buy cryptocurrency first.
