Vitalik Buterin: Twitter’s death would open the way for a new social network
Speaking at the FinTech festival in Singapore, Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin shared his vision of what Twitter could become under Elon Musk’s leadership.
According to Buterin, the social network under Musk’s management has a minimal chance that the project will become truly historically grandiose, or Musk will make Twitter truly terrible and fail. At the same time, Buterin believes that even if Musk fails with Twitter, it’s «not a bad thing» — there will be alternatives.
Also, according to Buterin, in the next 5−10 years, a more perfect platform will appear, without any problems, including user security.
«Elon is an unpredictable actor, right? There’s a minimal chance that he’ll make Twitter really great, and there’s a chance that he’ll make Twitter really terrible — and that’s good in a way, too. Because if it becomes too terrible, it will open up the opportunity for other people to do something really great,» Buterin said.
Earlier, Buterin «advised «to move Twitter’s headquarters to Switzerland, as he believes it is the best place to manage the social network.
