Miami authorities integrate blockchain technologies into city life
Miami authorities have announced plans to launch 5000 NFTs this year, in cooperation with TIME magazine, Mastercard payment system, and Salesforce.
According to the official information on the website of Miami City Hall, 56 local artists are working on the development of unique Miami-NFTs. Time representatives will help the Miami authorities develop a city strategy for the integration of blockchain technologies into various spheres of city life. The Mastercard team will offer Miami-NFT holders exclusive benefits such as access to VIP events and private city tours. And Salesforce developers will handle the process of issuing NFTs and their initial sale.
Similarly to the President of El Salvador, Nayiba Buchele, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez has declared his own commitment to cryptocurrencies on NFTs, emphasizing that the current market volatility does not bother him at all. «We will continue to utilize new technologies to support our existing business while attracting new entrepreneurs,» Suarez said in a statement. Last year, Miami launched its own cryptocurrency, MiamiCoin (MIA), which brought the city $ 8 million in revenue in just two months, but now, according to CoinMarketCap, the cryptocurrency has fallen 98.9% from its historical high.
