IPhone manufacturer complains about the use of its image by cryptocurrency fraudsters
The founder of Foxconn, one of the largest manufacturers of Apple technology, has complained about the use of his image by cryptocurrency fraudsters.
As Terry Gou wrote on his Facebook page, Foxconn’s lawyers have begun cooperating with law enforcement agencies to investigate the illegal use of his image. Gow also emphasized that he had never invested his own savings in cryptocurrency and did not encourage others to do so. It is not yet known which crypto platform used the businessman’s image to advertise.
It is worth noting that Gou has repeatedly spoken positively about metaverse and its future, and his company Foxconn recently signed an agreement with Google to receive an investment of NT$ 1.1 billion ($ 36.7 million) to develop new projects in Taiwan’s metaverse.
The illegal use of celebrity images to promote fraudulent projects has become a common negative phenomenon for the cryptocurrency community. Thus, in late May, Tesla CEO Elon Musk reacted to a deepfake video in which he allegedly promotes a fraudulent crypto project. In his tweet, the billionaire stated that he was not promoting any cryptocurrency project. The video, which was actively promoted in May on various platforms, was created to encourage investors to invest in a fraudulent platform that promised a 30% return on crypto deposits.
