Walmart is confident that cryptocurrencies will become the basis of a new technological breakthrough

Suresh Kumar, CTO of the American retail giant Walmart, believes that cryptocurrencies will become the basis of a technological breakthrough in the ability to pay for virtual and physical goods.

The top manager suggested that in the future, most users will trade digital assets through the metaverse and social media applications, so cryptocurrencies could become an important payment method in such cases.

«When you talk about the crypto industry, it’s always about either the discovery of new physical and virtual meta-universe products or payments and smart contracts,» explained Walmart’s CTO.

Walmart is going to actively promote cryptocurrencies not only in the virtual world. Last year, the American retail giant placed more than 200 Coinstar cryptomachines in dozens of its stores in the United States. And recently, Walmart was included in the list of the world’s largest companies that use blockchain technologies in their work and services.
