The EU will help Elon Musk and other famous people in the fight against dipfakes
The updated EU code on fighting disinformation will require major tech companies such as Google, Twitter, and META to counteract dipshits and fake accounts on their platforms. Failure to take down deepfakes will be punishable by fines of up to 6% of the corporations' global turnover.
Deepfakes and fake accounts, which have started to appear more and more often, are now considered to be a means of manipulation. According to content authentication experts, deepfakes have long ceased to be used for entertainment purposes and are now used to cheat users out of their money. People now find it particularly difficult to distinguish between authentic and fake videos due to their realism.
This is how a recent deepfake with Elon Musk appeared, in which the Tesla founder allegedly claims to have created the BitVex project, which will ensure the widespread use of cryptocurrency. In the video, Musk promises 30% profit every day for three months. The dipshit was shared on Twitter for several days until the real Elon Musk refuted it.
Creating dipshit videos is profitable for fraudsters because they don’t spend much of their own money: most dipshit programs are free and don’t require additional knowledge. However, access to such platforms will soon become impossible. This week, Google banned the use of Overdub, a program that allowed you to «make celebrities say whatever you want.»
