Youtube blogger accuses famous athlete of cryptocurrency fraud

11:08 pm, February 4, 2023

Coffeezilla, a YouTuber and crypto investigator, discovered that American mixed martial arts athlete Dillon Dennis was promoting a fake NFT project without disclosing that he received $ 1,000 for the ad. The ad itself was ordered from him by a blogger.

In his tweet, Dennis posted an image along with a website URL that, according to Coffeezilla, «literally stands for S.C.A.M.» Further investigation by Cointelegraph revealed that the website’s URL was created on February 1, 2023, which is an important clue when checking the authenticity of new projects.

In addition, the site’s FAQ clearly states that no investor can obtain the «Sourz» NFT, which is important information that the MMA fighter did not cover.

However, Coffeezilla has made sure that users who fall for the fraudulent NFT project it initiates are notified immediately. When users click on the «Mint Sourz» button, they are redirected to a website that warns against possible fraud and reminds them to consider all possible risks twice, maybe even three times.

A similar incident involving Kim Kardashian was recorded in June 2021 by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) when she advertised the EthereumMax (EMAX) cryptocurrency to her 330 million Instagram followers. According to the SEC, Kardashian violated the Securities Act’s anti-solicitation provisions by failing to disclose the $ 250,000 she received for the promotion. Court hearings are currently underway.
