CIA may be behind the disappearance of bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto
The fate of Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of bitcoin and the first cryptocurrency as such, is considered one of the biggest mysteries in the cryptocurrency world. For more than 10 years, there have been many rumors, but no one has come close to establishing who Nakamoto is and what his fate is.
Recently, Pete Rizzo, the editor of Bitcoin magazine, tweeted about his assumption that the US Central Intelligence Agency may be behind Nakamoto’s sudden disappearance.

Rizzo connects the visit of former lead bitcoin developer and now chief scientist at the Bitcoin Foundation Gavin Andresen to a meeting at the CIA in June 2011 with Nakamoto’s disappearance. Rizzo’s tweet contains a screenshot of Andresen’s post from the bitcointalk.org forum, where he wrote that he had accepted an invitation from the intelligence services to discuss bitcoin.
Rizzo writes that after Andresen’s visit to the CIA, Nakamoto was «never seen again.» Andersen believed that the presentation at the CIA was a chance to dispel misunderstandings about the project and an ideal opportunity to discuss how blockchain and bitcoin would help improve the world by increasing competition, removing barriers to international payments, and giving people more autonomy in their financial transactions.
