Cardano founder sees cryptocurrency as freedom for Americans

Charles Hoskinson, co-founder of the Cardano DeFi platform (ADA), has delved into his thoughts on cryptocurrency regulation. In a video blog post on his YouTube channel, Hoskinson said that for the cryptocurrency sector to thrive in the United States, a regulatory regime is needed that takes into account and recognizes the benefits of digital assets for ordinary Americans.

«We need a regulatory regime that recognizes the very existence of cryptocurrencies, sees them as positive things, and values the freedom they give people. So it’s time to figure out how to put all of these pieces together and create something that we can all live with, thrive with, and innovate with now,» the Cardano father discusses.

Hoskinson noted that, thanks to regulatory norms, cryptocurrencies have the potential to become a kind of «financial operating system» that can «meet the needs of the population.» For example, by solving financial issues without the intervention of banks.

«We want Cardano and cryptocurrencies in general to become the financial operating systems of the world. My great passion in life has been financial services for the unbanked. I would like to ensure that people can organize themselves into separate commercial groups that have their own sovereign rights,» he added.

At the same time, Hoskinson noted that the United States is taking the right steps to regulate cryptocurrencies. In particular, he emphasized that the White House executive order on the development of digital assets can be combined with other legislative proposals to strengthen the state economy.

Earlier, Hoskinson expressed his desire to work with Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin again. He claimed that he would like to develop a project with the father of Ethereum «that would be right.» Cardano’s founder noted that he would be interested in working with Buterin in researching human biological aging processes and in the field of regenerative medicine. «In the future, if we have ideas for such developments, we will cooperate on it,» he added. However, Hoskinson does not see any prospects in his tandem with Buterin for working on cryptocurrency projects.
