The founder of Ethereum cryptocurrency spoke about the benefits of cryptocurrency payments

Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, believes that cryptocurrency payments have many advantages over traditional types of payment for goods and services. However, according to the programmer, people are not yet fully aware of this. Buterin emphasized that cryptocurrency payments can be used to fight censorship, cooperate with international companies, participate in charity events, etc. «People continue to underestimate how often cryptocurrency payments outperform traditional ones,» the programmer said.

The main arguments against cryptocurrency payments are still high volatility and fees, as well as low throughput. For example, the Ethereum network can process up to 29.3 transactions per second, and the average commission is currently $ 1.57. However, according to Buterin, with the development of sharding (a type of data scaling), most of these problems can be eliminated.

Earlier, Buterin used the cryptocurrency mixer Tornado Cash to transfer financial aid to Ukrainians affected by the Russian-Ukrainian war and acts of aggression by the Russians. In April of this year, he sent 1500 ETH to the accounts of Ukrainian charities. The Ethereum co-founder took this step because he did not want the Russian government to have information about the transferred funds and to track Buterin’s actions.
