Hackers stole at least $ 22 million worth of NFT tokens from Discord through attacks
According to a recent report by TRM Labs, the number of cyberattacks aimed at stealing non-fungible tokens increased by 55% in a month, all thanks to the use of compromised Discord accounts.
According to experts, from May to June alone, there were more than 100 reports of attacks on Discord channels and more than $ 22 million worth of NFTs were stolen. According to representatives of TRM Labs, hackers most often target ERC-721 tokens of the Ethereum smart contract network. Most likely, cyberattacks are carried out by the same hackers or their groups. «If you’re looking for people who own NFTs, you go where they hang out most often and look for their weaknesses,» said Chris Janczewski, head of research at TRM Labs.
TRM Labs representatives pointed out that many of the attacks are related to the hacker who attacked the holders of the Bored Ape Yacht Club non-fungible tokens in June. BAYC’s security team has also recently noted an increase in cyber threats. According to Yuga Labs representatives on Twitter, a massive hacker attack on the NFT community may soon take place.
