Victim of hacker attack demands money from Binance
According to the Brazilian media outlet Livecoins, a local cryptocurrency trader was hacked back in December 2021. At that time, he had 22.7 billion SHIB, which is now worth about $ 271,000. The funds were stored on a MetaMask, which was somehow hacked (possibly with Cryware).
Using blockchain analysis, the trader discovered that 6.7 billion of the stolen SHIB tokens had been transferred to the leading cryptocurrency exchange Binance. The trader quickly contacted the platform’s support team to get it to block the funds so they could be recovered.
Binance’s support team apparently agreed to block the account, but the funds were not returned, prompting the trader to sue Binance for the return of 6.7 billion SHIB. In the lawsuit, the investor claims that the stolen tokens are part of the family funds.
Judge Ricardo Hoffman ordered Binance to block its Binance 14 wallet, according to Livecoins, which received the hackers' funds in January 2022. Binance, in turn, filed an appeal.
Experts in such cases call the course of the trial extremely ambiguous and do not predict how the proceedings will end. We will keep you updated on the developments, and to not miss anything, subscribe to our telegram channel!
