Will Apple add bitcoin payments via Apple Pay?
Rumors are actively circulating in your internet that something big is going to happen during the Bitcoin conference in Miami, which will take place from April 6 to 9. In particular, Strike CEO Jack Mullers and Apple are expected to make a joint announcement that will cause shocks in both the traditional and cryptocurrency financial sectors. The announcement is about the integration of BTC payments into Apple Pay via the lightning network.
To begin with, let’s briefly understand what the lightning network is. Bitcoin has two problems: transaction time and cost. The Lightning Network, a technology of instant payments with zero fees, is designed to make life easier for users. Thanks to the use of this technology, the number of transactions per second increases hundreds of thousands of times, and the transfer fee is reduced to a minimum value close to zero.
So what can happen at the annual conference in Miami? Jack Mullers, a big supporter of bitcoin and CEO of the payment giant Strike, has been building up intrigue around his speech, which is titled Untitled, in recent days.
- On March 28, Mallers tweeted the famous clip with Steve Jobs Think Different
- He also retweeted the words of U.S. Senator Lummis, who claims that work is already underway to integrate the lightning network into the Strike infrastructure
- He posts unambiguous screenshots with the Apple Pay interface and the presence of bitcoin on them
Of course, this is not enough, but if this incredible statement comes true, it will start a truly massive adoption of bitcoin, as more than a billion people will have access to it, and millions (if not billions) of those who do not use banking services will get the first reliable savings account in their lives.
Yes, Mullers is not Elon Musk and his attempts to hype do not lead to market growth (if only because legally such a step raises many questions given the fear of the US authorities to widely accept cryptocurrency payments). But.
