Solana surpasses Ethereum in terms of weekly growth
Solana SOL $138.85 Binance-Peg SOL 3.07% Market capitalization $0.15 billion VOL. 24 hours $0.37 billion has recorded a noticeable strengthening of its position against Ethereum ETH $1,596.75 Bridged Ether (StarkGate) 0.36% Market capitalization $0.14 billion VOL. 24 hours $0.3 billion : on the Binance exchange, the price ratio of SOL to ETH has reached 8.1%. This is the highest figure on record and is almost 40% higher than the level at the beginning of 2025, which was 5.8%. Such dynamics indicate a change in sentiment in the digital asset market and a growing demand for more efficient blockchain solutions.
Over the past week, the price of Solana has increased by more than 10%, while Ethereum, on the other hand, has lost about the same amount in value. Against this backdrop, the ratio of ETH to Bitcoin has dropped to 1.9%, a level last seen in early 2020. Analysts point out that Solana is benefiting from its speed, lower fees, and growing support among developers.
Amid the decline in Ethereum’s value, the project’s co-founder Бутерін" href="https://noworries.news/biography/vitalij-buterin/" data-bio-id="3642">Vitalik Buterin addressed the community via the X social network. He reported on progress in preparing for the Pectra update scheduled for May 7. The update should improve account mechanisms, increase staking thresholds, and optimize scaling by expanding the amount of data in transactions (blob capacity).
Pectra will be the next big step after Dencun’s March 2024 update. In addition, Buterin hinted that the next enhancement, codenamed «Glamsterdam,» could be implemented earlier than expected if key features can be quickly integrated.
The current situation demonstrates not only a change in the technical landscape of the crypto market, but also new competition among the leading blockchains. While Ethereum is focused on gradual improvements, Solana is actively closing the gap, which may affect the balance of power in the medium term.
