Silk Road founder received more than $ 30 million in bitcoin on his crypto wallet
A cryptocurrency wallet associated with Ross Ulbricht, the founder of the illegal Silk Road marketplace, has been replenished with more than $ 30 million in Bitcoin BTC $105,176.82 Bitcoin 0.39% Market capitalization $2.09 trillion VOL. 24 hours $1.47 billion - this has sparked a lively discussion in the crypto community. The large transaction sparked a wave of speculation. One of the commenters, CR1337, expressed skepticism, suggesting that Ulbricht could have transferred the funds to himself from an old wallet. Another user, Execute, mentioned «freedom, privacy, and justice» when discussing the transfer.
Interestingly, Ulbricht had previously raised about $ 1.3 million in Bitcoin by selling his personal belongings from his prison time on the Scarce City platform. Among the lots were a prison ID card, a notebook, and his own drawings.
Ulbricht was convicted in 2013 for creating Silk Road, a website that was used for illegal drug trafficking paid for with bitcoin. Earlier this year, however, President Donald Trump pardoned Ulbricht as part of his election program.
